How scans work

A scan checks a whole set of names on our servers and tells you about every free one. You can close the tab right after you start it.

Six modes

  • Quick check. Paste up to 50 names as text and get answers without setting anything up.
  • List. Upload a .txt file with names you already have in mind, one per line.
  • Length. Every name of a given length from 2 to 8, letters only or letters with digits, _ and .. You can check them all or a random sample.
  • Pattern. A mask built from letters L, digits D, consonants C, vowels V, any allowed character * and your own sets like [il1]. For example CVCV gives names like bavo and zeki.
  • Words. Real words in six languages with an optional ending like x or _.
  • Keyword. Your word plus filler characters at the start, at the end or on both sides.

Before the start

We count the names in the set and estimate how many checks the scan will use, taking our cache into account. Names that break Discord rules never get into the scan. A scan larger than your balance can still start: it pauses when checks run out.

What is charged

1 check

a clear answer: the name is free or taken

free

the name came from our cache

free

Discord gave no clear answer, we retry later

Our cache keeps taken names for 24 hours. If you need fresh answers, turn on rechecking in the scan options. Those checks are charged too.

Speed and queue

Every plan has threads, and they are shared between your running scans and your watchlist. Each plan also limits how many scans run at once. A new scan beyond that limit waits in a queue of up to 20 scans and starts by itself when a slot frees up.

While it runs

The scan page shows progress, speed, time left, answers by type, the feed of hits and an event log. You can pause, continue or stop a scan at any time and export hits as .txt or .csv.

When checks run out

The scan pauses with the status No checks, and we send an alert. It continues by itself after you buy a pack or your monthly checks renew.

Alerts

Hits arrive in Discord, Telegram, email or the browser, wherever you turned them on. Hits from one scan are grouped: one message every 10 seconds with up to 20 names, so a big scan does not flood you.
