How much is a Roblox username worth?
There is no official price for a Roblox username. What exists is a grey market of listings, and the numbers there tell you a lot about which names people want.
The short answer
Most usernames are worth nothing to anyone except their owner. A small group of names is different: very short ones, names made only of letters, and names that read like a real word. Sellers list 4 letter names for roughly $40 to $250 and 3 letter names from about $300 up to $1,000 and more.

What names are listed for
| What | Asking price |
|---|---|
| 4 letter name, account from 2017 to 2019 | $42.94 |
| 4 letter names | $99.99 and $100.00 |
| 4 letter name, two letters hidden | $141 |
| 4 letter word, account from 2009 | $250 |
| 3 letter names, old accounts | from $300, single OG names up to $1,000 |
Two things stand out. First, the same length can cost five times more depending on the letters and the age of the account. Second, nobody sells a username on its own: because a name is tied to an account for good, sellers sell the whole account.
What makes a name valuable
Length
Length is the main driver. Roblox usernames have 3 to 20 characters, and the platform has been open since 2006, so short combinations ran out long ago. The table shows how few short names exist at all:
| Length | Letters only | Letters and digits |
|---|---|---|
| 3 characters | 17,576 | 46,656 |
| 4 characters | 456,976 | 1,679,616 |
| 5 characters | 11,881,376 | 60,466,176 |
After twenty years of sign-ups, almost every 3 character name and most 4 character names are taken.
Letters only
A name like Kiro is worth far more than K1ro or Ki_ro. Digits and the underscore make a name easier to get and less valuable. Capital letters do not matter: Roblox treats KIRO and kiro as the same name.
A real word or a name
Wolf, Luna or Pixel are valued above a random set of letters. Readable patterns like consonant, vowel, consonant, vowel (Rimo, Tavu) come second. Random strings come last.
Account age
OG accounts from 2006 to 2010 carry extra value, because the join date shows on the profile and cannot be faked. Roblox keeps the original creation date when a name changes, so an old account with a new short name looks the same as an old account that always had it.
Name history
Past usernames stay visible in the profile and in people search. A name with a long trail of previous owners or a known history can be worth more to collectors, or less to someone who wants a clean name.
How to estimate your name
- Count the characters. 3 is rare, 4 is uncommon, 5 and more is ordinary unless it is a real word.
- Check what it is made of: letters only, or digits and an underscore.
- Ask whether it reads as a word, a first name or a brand.
- Look at your account join date in the profile.
- Search public listings for similar names, and remember those are asking prices.
If your name is 6 characters or longer, has digits and is not a word, its market value is close to zero. That is fine: its value is that it is yours.
A cheaper way to get a good name
A good name does not have to come from the market. Two things work in your favour:
- Many 5 character names and readable 4 character combinations with a digit or an underscore are still free. They just need a lot of checking to find.
- A name change costs 1,000 Robux. That is the official price, paid to Roblox, on your own account. For scale, the Roblox subscription that gives 1,000 Robux a month costs $12.99.
Checking thousands of names by hand is slow. Clmify does it for you on Discord and Roblox: it scans whole sets of names on our servers around the clock and alerts you the second one frees up. You can check any name on our Roblox page and see why catching a name costs less than buying one.
